The Japanese Racing Association (JRA) will loosen limitations at a few of its off-track wagering (OTB) spots, enabling them to take bets on more contests beginning September 26th.
JRA’s OTB locations have been operating under limitations since they reopened in July 2020, after being compelled to shut down due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.
While some locations have been permitted to reopen, JRA has continued to implement certain restrictions, such as only allowing bettors to gamble on specific races, to stop the spread of COVID-19.
However, starting September 26th, JRA’s Park Wins, Wins, and J-Place OTB facilities in the Kanto, Kansai, and Tokai regions will be able to take bets on all contests from the 9th to 12th race at each racetrack, as well as contests that can be wagered on the day before.
Previously, these locations were only allowed to take bets on the day’s featured races at all racetracks, as well as contests that could be wagered on the day before.
Meanwhile, JRA also declared that it will resume some operations at its Excel Hamamatsu and Excel Hakata on September 26th, and at Wins Urawa and J-Place Kanazawa the next day.
These online platforms will maintain their current operating hours, shutting down at 2:00 PM daily. They will not display live game footage or betting odds.
All JRA locations will continue to implement safety measures. These include regular cleaning and disinfection of frequently touched surfaces, as well as the installation of protective barriers and curtains in certain areas.
JRA staff members will undergo temperature checks before commencing work. They will also document their health status, sanitize their hands, and wear masks, gloves, and face shields while performing their duties.
Visitors to the facilities will have their temperature taken upon arrival. Individuals exhibiting symptoms of Covid-19 will be prohibited from entering. The capacity of stores will be restricted, and all patrons must wear masks, maintain physical distancing, and sanitize their hands.
Entry will be denied to anyone who has been in close contact with a confirmed Covid-19 case or has recently traveled to regions or nations experiencing high or escalating infection rates.
