The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has issued six orders to block access to unlawful offshore online gambling and affiliate marketing websites.
The ACMA has directed Australian internet service providers (ISPs) to block access to six websites. These include gambling sites Pokies Parlour and Ninja Spins, and affiliate websites Pokies Online Casino, CasinoAus, Australian Casino Sites and AU Online Casino. These websites have been determined to be in violation of the Interactive Gambling Act 2000.
Since initially issuing blocking requests in November 2019, the ACMA has stated that it has blocked 426 illegal gambling websites in Australia.
Over 160 illegal services have withdrawn from Australia since the ACMA began enforcing new regulations against unlawful offshore gambling in 2017.
“Website blocking is one of several enforcement actions to safeguard Australians from illegal online gambling,” the ACMA stated. “Website blocking provides a valuable opportunity to raise awareness of illegal gambling services through the warning messages that appear when individuals attempt to access the websites.”
Australias communications watchdog, the ACMA, has prohibited access to twelve additional gambling sites, including Zebet, Zeturf, Slot Vibe, Arlekin Casino, Johnnie Kash Kings, Lucky Star, Horus Casino, 21 Dukes, Tangiers Casino, 7 Reels, Winward Casino, and Thebes Casino. This action follows a similar directive issued last month.
