The Las Vegas Sands Corporation and Marjan have chosen a design specialist for the initial integrated resort in the Middle East.
The resort will be situated on the man-made island of Al Marjan Island in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates. It will feature over 1,000 guest rooms, a conference center, a high-end shopping center, and a gambling establishment.
The resort is anticipated to open in 2026.
“This new resort will be the first in the area to provide a distinctive lodging, dining, and entertainment experience in a truly breathtaking setting,” stated Abdulla Al Abdooli, chief executive officer of Marjan.
“We are excited to collaborate with HKS Architects to bring our vision for the Sands Resort on Al Marjan Island to life and to set a new standard for luxurious hospitality in the Middle East, enhancing the emirate’s tourism industry and attracting visitors from across the globe.”
Al Marjan Island is situated 15 minutes from Ras Al Khaimah International Airport and 45 minutes from Dubai International Airport.
Marjan and Wynn Resorts must submit an application for a combined resort permit from the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority to manage the resort.
“We are proud to be a part of a project that will have such a substantial effect and generate a variety of opportunities that extend beyond tourism,” stated Kevin Underwood, Principal of Master Planning and Design at HKS Architects.
“We will utilize our worldwide knowledge and extensive experience in luxurious hotels and resorts to create a truly distinctive, eco-friendly, and forward-thinking project that aligns with this new era of tourism, concentrating on quality and exceptional guest experiences.”
