Elen Barber, a past Kindred Group leader, has been chosen as the new chief marketing leader of Super Group, the organization behind Betway.
Barber, who will be stationed in London, begins her new position right away. She brings more than 13 years of experience from Kindred, where she held various top marketing roles, including director of brand marketing and head of partners. She most recently served as Kindred’s CMO, departing the company in September 2023 after stepping down. Barber’s exit followed the departures of Kindred’s CEO Henrik Tjärnström and CFO Johan Wilsby.
Barber announced her new position on LinkedIn, expressing enthusiasm about joining the creative team at Super Group and taking on the challenges ahead.
Super Group is experiencing a period of expansion, having reached record highs in 2023. The company generated €1.4 billion (£1.2 billion/$1.52 billion) in income last year, setting a new yearly record. Barber’s appointment comes at a time when Super Group is looking to build on its recent achievements.
This also exceeded the €1.35 billion forecast, rising 11% annually from €1.3 billion in 2022.
However, Super Group also pointed out a substantial decrease in pre-tax earnings, down 92.2% to €16.8 million. The operator attributed this drop to €64.6 million in non-cash expenditures.
Of this, €28.6 million originated from the acquisition of online sports betting and iGaming business Digital Gaming Corporation in January 2023. On the other hand, this enabled Super Group to enter the US market at the start of the year.
Operating EBITDA decreased from €208.5 million to €197.3 million in 2023. Meanwhile, unrestricted cash flow declined by €12.9 million to €241.9 million, which Super Group stated was again due to the DGC acquisition.
Super Group Disposes of DGC B2B Unit
Prior to the results announcement, Super Group also declared another significant development—the sale of DGC’s B2B assets to Games Global.
The transaction concluded in February, just a year after the agreement was reached. Neither party revealed the financial specifics of the deal.
DGC B2B operates in numerous US states including Pennsylvania, Iowa, New Jersey, Arizona, Colorado, Indiana, Virginia, Ohio, and Louisiana.
Super Group CEO Neal Menashe stated the sale permits the operator to concentrate on its global B2C expansion.
